Not only CSW, but also target community looks ahead of bright future

Looking 20 years back, we faced the following challenges, particularly in rural and tribal belts of our intervention areas, which had proved to be stumbling blocks for achieving optimum results in terms of goals set forth:

Social Backwardness: Blind faith on age-old traditions, magical beliefs, etc., prevent the people from adopting innovative means.

Illiteracy: It is the biggest problem facing the country today and is the main cause of economic and social problems.

Untouchability: Despite our best efforts, both legally and socially, to eliminate this social menace, untouchability still persists in some parts of rural India. It is thus hampering the cooperative activities and efforts.

Ignorance: Due to lack of awareness, people are still ignorant about their rights and responsibilities, as enshrined in various enactments. As a result they surrender themselves against exploitation being perpetuated upon them.

Women's Exploitation: Still in many parts of India, the women folks suffer all types of exploitation due to their illiteracy, poverty and social backwardness.

Delay in Releasing Project Funds: Due to bureaucratic hassles, there is at times, inordinate delay in the release of funds for the projects. Causing vital delays in the implementation of the project and even at times defeating the very purpose of the project itself.

Of course, every effort is being made at various levels to face and overcome the aforesaid challenges, which includes:

1. Social awareness campaigns
2. Improving educational level
3. Reducing economic dependence
4. Making people self-reliant
5. Generating additional sources of livelihood
6. Empowering the women
7. Uplifting the downtrodden and deprived sections of society
8. Promoting people's participation in developmental activities
9. Promoting leadership qualities amongst women
10. Enhancing Role of women in decision making process at various levels

However, it requires a concerted effort by all the agencies concerned to ensure proper and effective implementation of the projects for achieving the desired goals.

We are quite hopeful of succeeding in our efforts, which have already started showing positive results.
