Madhya Pradesh is among the most educationally backward State. Female literacy rates are considerably low and they further go down in case of females belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The situation is worrisome as many people, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged groups, are least interested in girl child education.

To counter this situation and promote girl child education CSW conducts motivational and mobilisation campaigns amongst parents, teachers, and members of communities through rallies, personal interactions and group meetings. The objectives of such campaigns are:

• To bring out positive changes in the attitudes of parents and community towards education of girls
• To promote enrolment of children in schools, ensuring their regular attendance and retention in educational institutions
• To reduce the number of out-of-school children in target areas
• To ensure mainstreaming of children in formal schools
